How to Battle Body Odor With Hero Clean

body odor

Picture this: You’re at the gym. You’re putting your time in on the Stairmaster, even though cardio is the last thing you want to be doing. You’re watching the floors climb up and your sweat starts seeping through your “high-performance” dri-fit shirt. You sneak a glance to your left, aiming to keep pace with the guy you refer to as “The Beast.” You’re holding your own… except you seem to be drowning in your own sweat. You’re not concerned about the amount of sweat but did notice something a little funky when you turned your head to the left. You tuck your nose to the right and wonder: Dang!…is that me…?

We all expect to sweat when we work out. In fact, we crave a good sweat session. What we don’t crave, however, is to be the person at the gym who sweats the most and smells the worst. Contrary to popular belief, sweat isn’t what makes us stink – bacteria makes us stink, and other factors like hormones and pheromones can make the funk worse.

There are three main ways to tone down the smell and be more popular with your fellow humans:  your diet, your habits, and your workout clothes.

The foods you do, or don’t, eat affect body odor. If you have been going overboard with junk food and are lacking vital nutrients, that could be your culprit. By the way, junk food is probably also the reason you’re doing more cardio, but that’s none of my business… But it’s not just junk food – If you’ve ever wondered why foods like garlic, onion, and curry cause body odor, it’s because they consist of specific compounds (like sulfur) that are released through our pores when we sweat. Basically, you smell like what you eat.

Next, let’s talk about habits.  Odor-causing bacteria live on your skin and on your clothes.  There are of course the standards like regular showers, deodorant, etc., but also some other lesser known tips like don’t re-wear workout gear, and make sure to regularly wash your workout bag.  Which brings us to our third cause of odor – your clothes.

Do us (and yourself) a favor and go pull out a clean gym shirt or a pair of shorts that has had its fair share of wear. If you notice a mildewy smell, then your laundry detergent is obviously not doing its job. To top it off, bacteria love to live in moisture-wicking material where it gets locked into the fibers – making your gym gear smell especially dank. Hero Clean Odor Eliminator and Laundry Detergent can certainly help the cause.  Both products were formulated just for said dank smelling gym gear. Both products contain our Odor Defeater technology that specifically targets sweat odor.  The Laundry Detergent should be able to handle most everyday laundry needs, but for those garments that need a little extra odor control, we suggest taking our Odor Eliminating Spray, saturating the clothes, the inside of your gym shoes and gear or anything else that stinks, then let them sit for a few hours to a day.  The Odor Eliminatory Spray has a Probiotic Microbe technology that gets down into the fabrics and gets rid of the odor, then leaves an inhospitable environment for it to grow back.  Get rid of it, keep it from coming back.

Once dry, wash clothes and other laundry in Hero Clean Laundry Detergent and dry on low heat or on a line.  Once shoes and gear are dry they are ready to go!
